The Challenge
A multinational customer required component-level traceability across the full PCB assembly process as a condition of a major program award. The plant was using paper travelers and manual test result logs. When a recall verification drill was run, reconstructing the production history of a single board took an average of three working days — and some historical records were simply missing.
The Solution
Deployed Product Traceability across all 11 production stages: SMT paste printing, pick-and-place, reflow, AOI, wave soldering, selective soldering, ICT, functional test, inspection, rework, and packing. MACHHUB integrated directly with the solder paste printer and AOI machines via their APIs to capture equipment-level data automatically. Barcode scanning stations at all other stages link components, operators, and results to each board serial number.
The Result
The customer audit under the new system passed with zero non-conformances. Board history retrieval time fell from three days to under 18 minutes. In the two quarters following go-live, repeat defect escapes dropped by 63% as engineering used traceability data to identify and close root causes that had previously been invisible.
